MalarEO
MalarEO, ein Projekt im 7. EU-Forschungsrahmenprogramm, fördert die Verwendung von Fernerkundungsdaten im Rahmen der Malariabekämpfung im südlichen Afrika. Es werden nachhaltige und kostengünstige Fernerkundungsmethoden entwickelt um die in Südafrika, Mosambik und Swasiland laufenden Initiativen zur Malariabekämpfung und -prävention zu unterstützen. Dabei werden notwendige Geoinformationen generiert und zur Verfügung gestellt, welche die mögliche Verbreitung von Malaria-Vektoren sowie Malriafällen auf lokalem Maßstab erklären.

MalarEO project objectives
The primary objective of MalarEO is to develop technology and implement EO capacities for malaria vector control and management programs in southern Africa. To achieve this objective, knowledge exchange and capability will occur in two directions (EU <-> SA). By doing this, the project will contribute to the installation of an EO monitoring cell that will support the daily work of the national malaria control programs.

- Feasibility study and concept design

- Development of an EO monitoring system prototype
